The Eastern Sedgefrog is the smallest tree frog in Brisbane region. Also known as the Eastern Dwarf Treefrog. It grows to just 25mm long. It is very common in suburban gardens, although can be hard to spot. This poor specimen is dead - killed by our ferocious (not!) Spaniel.

FROG FACTS

Description
The Eastern Dwarf Tree Frog is green, pale brown or green above with white stripe from below the eye to the shoulder The underside is white and granular. The iris is golden. The hind surface of thighs orange. Toes have rounded pads.

Size
2.5cm

Habitat
Vegetation bordering swamps, streams, ponds and farm dams. In gardens shelters in plants such as bromeliads and banana trees. Often responds to plant watering by giving short calls.

Food
insects and crustaceans.

Breeding
Eggs laid singly or in small mats floating on surface of still water in summer months.

Range
Coastal northern Queensland to southern NSW.
