EMPEROR ANGELFISH FACTS

Description
The Emperor Angelfish is a beautiful fish with many blue and yellow stripes and black mask edged with blue around the eyes. The dorsal fin is serrated with pale edge. The snout is pale blue. Juveniles look completely different with pale concentric circle pattern on dark blue background.

Size
to 38cm

Habitat
coastal slopes to deep water where reef drops off to open ocean. Adults often hide in caves or gaps in coral.

Food
algae, sponges, small invertebrates

Range
Indian Ocean and Pacific. In Australia from the central Western Australian coast, around the tropical north and south to the northern New South Wales
