BANDED WOBBEGONG FACTS

Description
Margins of head with several branched dermal 'tentacles'. Several broad diffuse dark brown bands with corrugated edges across the head and upper body; scattered irregular pale spots covering the upper body, but no distinctive white rings.

Matures at 80 cm and gives birth to 2-16 pups in spring after a 10-11 month gestation period. Feeds mainly on fishes and cephalopods.

Habitat
Coastal to offshore rocky or coral reefs, often among thick stands of brown macroalgae.
