BIRD FACTS |
Description Small babbler with long bill curved downward. Short wings and long tail, often held raised or fanned. Grey-brown to dark-brown, with distinctive white stripe above eye, dark stripe across eye, white throat and chest. 19.5 cm long with wingspan of 25 cm.
Active, noisy and inquisitive, it forages on ground, moving with bouncing hops. Forms cooperative breeding groups, with two to four breeding pairs and a group of supporting birds. Supporting auxiliaries feed and care for the breeding females and young.

Habitat Dry, sclerophyll woodlands and open forests with tall or dense understorey.
Food Insectivore, also seeds and fruit.
