SAVANNA NIGHTJAR FACTS |
Description The Savanna Nightjar is a brownish grey nocturnal bird with pale brown speckles. The underside is brown with bars. It is a nocturnal bird from eastern and south east Asia that is a vagrant in Australia. The IUCN has assessed the species to be of least concern because it has a large range and stable population trend.
Size 25cm
Habitat open forest and woodland, savanna, scrubland
Food insects which it catches in flight
Range The Savanna Nightjar is found in south Asia and south-east Asia. In Australia it is a vagrant on Christmas Island and tropical Queensland (?).
