BUFF-BANDED RAIL FACTS |
Description Upper body parts mottled green-brown with black and white spots, underparts striped black and white. Face red-brown and throat grey-brown. Yellow-brown stripe across breast area and a curved white stripe above the eye. Body up to 34 cm long.
Buff-banded Rails are secretive and flick their tail when alarmed. They feed on insects and aquatic plants.

Habitat Freshwater wetlands and swamps.

Range Eastern and Western mainland Australia and Tasmania.
